Amalinda and Mombo Camps

Am thinking of staying at these two camps in Zimbabwe and Okavango Delta. Has anyone stayed at either camp? I'd love to hear about your experiences at these places. Would you stay there again? Also, is Mombo Camp and Mombo Trails Camp the same?

Hello, Nancy - there is a very good feature article called "Journey to the Heart of the Delta" at this moment at www.getawaytoday.co.za/ which originates from South Africa. We stayed at Mombo Trails camp last year and loved it. The tents were very large with a complete attached bathroom. Our normal routine was up early for a snack and then out for a game drive with coffee or tea along the way and then back to camp for brunch and a rest before tea in the afternoon followed by another game drive and "sundowners" in the evening before returning to camp for dinner. Also, you had the option of doing hikes in the afternoon. It is the most wonderful experience. If you want any other info (maybe a tour operator) please feel free to e-mail me. Louise

We spent some time at the 'old' Mombo Camp in 1998; trip report with descriptions of game-viewing available at www.fisheaglesafaris.com/tripr4.htm.

Mombo is currently being re-built at a new site about half a mile from the old, existing camp. Mombo Camp (9 beds) and Little Mombo (3 beds) will be identical in terms of accommodation (luxury tented camps) & facilities.
