Aloha from Kgalagadi!
 

Actually in Upington after 11 nights in Kgalagadi. Beautiful place-the wilderness camps were unbelievable. Not as good cat action as I'd have liked but some highlights:
-cheetah walked beside the car for 30 minutes at Grootkolk
-lion did the same at Grootkolk
-black backed jackals laying at our feet while we were eating at Nossob
-meerkats outside Kiele Krankie
-hyena broke into our cooking tent at Kalahari Tented Camp, opened the refrigerator and ate all the meat, butter and cheese...thank God he didn't take the gin!

Back to the Hawaii on the 28th and will work on a trip report.

Sounds like another outstanding safari and that there will be another classic Dennis report on the way. Smart planning as no way those Kgalagadi animals would disappear to Angola.

I also stayed at Kalahari Tented Camp, which I thought was exceptionally nice (and exceptionally cold in the morning). My food must have been less tasty (no predators broke into my fridge).

Not sure if you are looking for restauarant recommendations in Upington, but I ate at Le Must and it was a very welcome change from my own bush cooking.

I'm at JNB awaiting my flight having what else but a gin and tonic!
