Airline tickets purchased! Another step closer to Africa

We were finally able to purchase our tickets today for our trip Sept 11 (yes 9/11) - Oct 4th! Used NW - Detroit-Dulles, then
SA - Dulles - JoBurg; overnight in JoBurg, then SA JoBurg - Nairobi. Return takes us via Capetown for an extra week. Felt the same excitement as when we wired our deposit!

That's great! We're still waiting impatiently (Sept. 20-Oct. 8). I saw your message and tried to make reservations again, but they still say it's too far in advance. Very frustrating!

Kmania, you should be okay in another 4 days to book your trip - depending on airline being used. Good luck and report again when you have booked!

My tickets are all confirmed and booked.

Air Canada to Delhi then local airlines to Mumbai.
Mumbai to Nairobi and back by Emirates and then back to Mumbai and Delhi with a day in Dubai.

The plan for to go to East Africa but also see family in Mumbai ... so little time... so much to do.

Woohoo! We booked our tickets this morning. Guess we're really committed now. We had to alter our dates by two days, which messes up my plan to be at the Crater for my husband's birthday and the full moon, but I'm sure it will be just as lovely in Tarangire.

We're flying KLM nonstop SFO to Amsterdam, spending the night, then on to JRO, nonstop back from DAR to A'dam, spending two nights, then back to SFO. Our dates are Sept. 22-Oct. 7, with 7 days on safari and 5 days diving in Zanzibar.

You can celebrate your husband's birthday whenever you want, regardless of the actual date. Shifting the date of the full moon is a bit harder.

Congrats emdee and Kmania !! We are now reading books on the Capetown area in order to book our accommodations for our last week of the trip (as well as browsing the Fodors forum of course)
Also shopping for binocs and clothing.

Please write what you decide on in Cape Town. I'm looking at great white sharks, penguins, baboon walk, Robbens Island, and Spiers for the cheetah outreach program. Plus being driven around the Cape of Good Hope. Please share any interesting tidbits you pick up.

Great White shark dive is on hubby's must do list. I think we will book that for the beginning of the week in case weather causes us to reschedule for a different day. Wine country is top of my list. We are a little reluctant to rent a vehicle - neither of us has had experience driving on the other side of the road. Will have to make do with tours and public transport.
