Airline routes from U.S.

Just started planning two months in South Africa for May/June, 2005. Shall be flying from Orlando, Florida. Would like suggestions of routes to Cape Town that are not direct, i.e. through Amsterdam or Frankfurt. Best quote from Orlando to Cape Town so far has been around $1300. Can we do it cheaper by flying through Europe? Many thanks for all suggestions.

Check for flights from London (BA, Virgin), Madrid (Iberia), Frankfurt (Lufthansa) and there probably are a few carriers that fly from Europe.

But if you cannot get a non-stop flight from Orlando to any of the above cities, you'll only be adding time and stops/plane changes to your trip, even if you save a few dollars.

If you're getting prices now, almost a year before your trip, you won't know of special fare sales that occur a few times a year.

Contact www.premiertours.com

select their air department, or better call and ask what time of year they have fare sales. I know they do have sales in Oct/Nov and sometime in the spring, so May might be one of them. Ask when the sales occurred this past year of 2004 to get an idea of what might be available if you wait to firm up your air.

Iberia and Virgin has some good fares this past year, but those flights were from NYC. You'll have to consider flights from Orlando and their costs.
