"Aida" performed at Giza?

Does anyone know if the opera "Aida" will be performed at the Giza Pyramids this year? I have seen this mentioned in guide books, but have not be able to obtain any specifics. If so, do we get tickets in advance, or day of performance? Also, how does this work with the Sound and Light show also going on? Thanks.

Have not heard or read anywhere it is being planned for 2005. With regards to the Sound & Light, I am sure they will manage, I believe it starts at a later time and the location is different.

I attended Aida a few years ago at the Giza Pyramids and it was a very enjoyable experience.

The year we visited, AIDA was performed at the Pyramids, but it has, in other years, been performed in Luxor and even in Aswan. I'd suggest you contact your tour operator and have them advise if and where it will be performed for 2005.

When we visited, we prepaid for our seats - about USD$100 (about what an opera performance would be here Stateside). While there may be seats available on the day of performance, I wouldn't bank on it. We understood that every night was a full-house. If you will be (Cairo, Luxor or other) wherever it is being performed and seats are available - go for it. Absolutely amazing and not to be missed.

Don't worry about the Light & Sound show - conflict of where - whether at the Pyramids, Luxor or elsewhere as AIDA is performed in a dedicated area set up specifically for this purpose.
