African Wildlife photo exhibit
Hi All
I took the plunge and put up my own photo exhibit last week at a small gallery in Montreal. Wild! Art UP CLOSE with African Wildlife. I have never done anything like this before and the response has been fantastic. Lots of kids have come by. And things are selling-which is a bonus. I just put up a low-rez version of the images on my site if anyone would like to "virtually" attend. (sorry you will miss the candles, Soweto choir music and my big-eyed stuffed giraffe) After the show is done I will put up a proper gallery of "photos of the photos" framed on the gallery walls. And maybe a video. The images are from a 2007 trip to Tanzania and a 2008 dream trip to South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Namibia. http://www.wildartupclose.com/site/mini-exhibit.html cheers, Nancie |
Thanks Nancie, what has been the most popular image of the group (28) do you think? What size prints did you show?

Great photos, Nancie! I particularly like the TreeLion.

Thanks.
About sizes.. I have two principal sizes-12*18 in pre-made digital ratio frames, which were nice to find. The larger ones are 25*19 custom framed. Four Eyes is 25*10 framed-very interesting dimension. (and have sold 2 of those) There are others in the show i didn't show on the site-one is a tryptch with three 8*8 square images so it is about 35* 14. very different and sold. I started this entire thing from a line of cards I created called Bend Me*Stands Me. They are 4.5 square images with a section that you can write on and then bend back so the card stands up.(you can peek at them at http://www.etsy.com/shop/wiggitsworld if you are curious.) So, I have a lot of neat images in that format. I built an installation of cube frames with square images. It is about 4' by 1' along the wall. Ikea frames. Have sold about 60 cards-nice as some folks can't afford anything large, but like a little something. Most popular...trick question. The Vultures, Kill, King and Breathe likely get the most comments and questions and stares! From sales, most popular Mohawk, which is in the outside window. Have sold 3. I love this photo and very proud of it as it made it to the semi finals in the Veolia Wildlife Photographer of the Year contest. Next popular would be Four Eyes and Ndutu Pride from a sales point of view. I love the tree Lions too Julia! Especially the Paw hanging down.We were lucky in Lake Manyara. People ask such great questions so it is fun to tell the stories of the photos. and the kids are very curious. |
Mohawk has a good name too. These are lovely images and different perspectives. Looks like you'll be capturing some more before too long.
