African Safari
Has anyone ever used SITA for an African Safari. If so how was it?
We would like to take a safari hopefully going to Kenya, Tanzania, and South Africa. Our travel agent sent us one from SITA and said she would also try to get one from African Tours. |
First African Safari? If so I would definitely search this forum and identify a travel agent that specailizes in Africa. First off you should decide where you want to go, South Africa, Tanzania or Botswana. Some agents specialize in one country, others do business in all but have expertise in only one or two. Trying to visit all the countries you mention would be a big big mistake, that is unless you have really deep pockets and don't mind lots of wasted time in transit. I would suggest starting out by locating a new TA.

Is the SITA a group trip, traveling with others, or a private itinerary just for you and your travel partner/s? Which would you prefer?
Then, trying to cover the three countries you mention needs at minimum 3/weeks and that's still kind of giving short shrift to one or all of them. Kenya & Tanzania are in East Africa and South Africa is just that, south! Transport to each and between the two areas is limited, time consuming and expensive. You have to decide when you're traveling, which country/ies best suit your needs, and how much time you have for your holiday... and, of course, your budget. Suggest you pick up a copy of Fodor's Complete Safari Planning Guide with information on the main safari countries, what they have to offer, best times to visit, type of safaries offered, type of accommodations, and lots of other useful info. |
I know SITA & while I haven't travelled with them can at the least tell you that they have seasoned travellers operating their African itineraries. The Africa product manager is from SA and visits the continent annually, while the GM of the company has been in the biz for over two decades with many trips to explore both east and south Africa.
I would suggest that working with these guys should not disappoint, fine company of people. |
