I've never posted or even "cruised" this Africa site. I've been on the "lounge", and got addicted to an AFRICAM.
wow! DH and I are well traveled, but, I've had health problems. We just returned from a cruise that included Turkey and Cairo. So,does it take a mountain climber to go see some of Africa---meaning lots of physical energy---or do they have some trips that are not very physical????? Sorry for the probably "lame" question, but I really don't have a clue. |
Welcome to the greatest addiction in the world! You can do it. Anyone can do it! You can be on crutches, in a wheelchair, almost anything except maybe in an iron lung (any one remember those?)
If you think watching the Africam is great you won't believe what it's like to really be there. I've seen your postings on the "lounge" and I'm always amazed that such well travelled folks who rave about the Africam aren't planning their next trips to this wonderful continent. I don't have enough experience to help you decide where to go, but everyone on this forum is wonderful. And believe me, everyone thinks their trip to Africa is a once in a lifetime event but those same people are planning their next trip on the plane ride home! Welcome! Lily |
ok, Lillipets/Lily (I like your name).
After Breast Cancer/surgery, yadda yaddda yadda, and an ALL CLEAR report this week, I'm looking at planning a great trip next year, at turning 60! Maybe Africa is in my future if I get an "ok" to go there, from MD Anderson Cancer Hosp. I will start reading the posts on this site. thank you so much--sincerely |
I think there is nothing better to celebrate your "all clear" than a trip to Africa! Congratulations! I keep planning my next trip even though financially I should be saving for retirement! But if retirement means no more trips to Africa I guess I'll never retire! I'm a vet tech and I'll probably kick the bucket while wrestling with some Great Dane! If cowboys can die with their boots on I can go with my scrubs on! HA!

surfingmomma~yes you can do it! congratulations on the all clear! now for the fun part-planning your trip to Africa! while the africam if nice to look at, it is nothing like seeing the animals live!
lillipets-I agree, all the africam ravers in the lounge and not one is planning a trip to Africa! what's up with that? |
Fodor's African Safari book is a good place to start. It will help you narrow the choices, which can be overwhelming.

thank you to all of you for the encouragement.

Welcome to the Africa Forum surfingmoma and CONGRATULATIONS on the all clear!
I concur in that I think there is NO better way to celebrate than to book a trip to Africa. My 'once' in a lifetime trip was back in 2002 .... and again in 2006 ... and fingers crossed, in 2008 .... so yes, Africa is addictive. As Dennis said, the fun starts now with the planning. Read as many trip reports as you can to get a feel for what / where you would like to go and ask questions here too. Above all - GO TO Africa!!!!!!! Imelda |
Congrats surfingmomma and you've picked the best place in the world to go! The planning itself is fun and lots of decisions to make but you'll enjoy it!

Surfingmomma, if you think you're addicted to Africam, wait until you get reading the posts here!! Welcome, and we hope to hear lots from you as you plan your trip to Africa.
