Africa - top to bottom (or bottom to top)

Hi,

I'm planning on taking a long trip in Africa next year travelling the length of the continent but am daunted by the amount of organisation and planning required. So many choices to make! Does anyone know of any guide books that deal specifically with this trip or perhaps online resources / blogs that could be useful? Of course if you've already done a trip like this, I'd love to hear your recommendations.

Many thanks

James

Take a look at overland journeys from companies such as Intrepid Travel, GAP Adventures, Imaginative Traveler, etc.

In 2002, Paul Theroux published "Dark Star Safari," an account of his travels from top to bottom. He is, by nature, a pretty glum individual and this book displays a lot of pessimism, as does his other works. Nonetheless, it describes obstacles that travellers may find and it is informative. ZZ
