Great pix. This next part of your trip looks like fun, too!

We come to the end of our time in South Africa. Our last day was again filled with many stunning sites. We checked out of our hotel at 9am and our flight wasn’t until midnight. Lots of hours to fill.
Off we went in our van to Hout Bay to catch a boat to Seal Island. A beautiful day to be on the water. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fod...e7c29853a.jpeg Hout Bay https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fod...7e6360b2b.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fod...6c868e21c.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fod...4f8ad5192.jpeg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fod...99f3a0cf8.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fod...15741b18a.jpeg The ride on the boat was quite bumpy but fun https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fod...0e71be8ac.jpeg The seals were active and noisy putting on a show for us https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fod...ba312333d.jpeg |
Beautiful drive along Hout Bay to Boulder’s Beach to see the African Penguins was next on the agenda.

It was a long, picturesque drive back to Cape Town where were dropped off at Victoria Wharf for some final shopping, etc. before heading to the airport.
All in all this was an unforgettable trip to an amazing part of the world. We will take so many treasured memories home with us of friendly people and remarkable sites and experiences. Time for our 11 hr. flight to Amsterdam followed by an 8 hr. flight to Chicago followed by. 2 hr. drive home. After all….South Africa is a long way from Chicago! |

WOW!!!
I love the photos -- especially the seals, proteas, and the penguins! I'm so glad you had such an awesome trip! |
Songdoc…..thanks for the nice comments. I’m sure you have noticed there are not many posters on the Africa site.
Your photos are beyond belief. The 2 male lions walking together….epic! The illusive leopards fantastic. We got a shot of the rear end of a leopard walking away, you got that gorgeous beast lounging in a tree. And of course I must comment on the hot air balloon ride. Not for me as I don’t like heights, but I sure enjoyed you taking us along in photos. |
TPAYT: Again, I am SO flattered by your comments about my photos. Your trip looked fabulous and I'm sure your report will help many people.
I saw more cheetahs than I could count, but I never expected those leopards!!! |
TPAYT- What a wonderful trip. The animals, good food and a great birthday. I would love to go see the penguins.
|
Wonderful trip and photos! Thanks much for sharing.
You were fortunate to see so many species of wildlife. I may have missed it, but could you tell us the approximate dates of your trip? |
Doh! I came to this report via your link elsewhere, and just now noticed the title of your post: "Africa….several amazing sites, September 2022"
Thank you again! |
Thanks so much TPAYT. What a wonderful trip you had. Love the photos.
|
Thanks for posting it here , or I would have missed it.
It was nice to relive your adventure. I was to go for my second time in 2020 but we all know what happened then. All I can say is there is nothing like an African Safari. Beautiful pictures Thanks for taking the time to post your trip report. Keep those pictures coming. |
Loved your enthusiasm and photos! I’m an Africa fan also. Glad you had such a great time.
