Africa Safari

I am planning a Safari to Tanzania and Kenya possibly with Micato Tours. What is the best month to go since my schedule is open and flexible. Also any comments on Micato Tours or any other small upscale tour group.

While Micato does look like a wonderful tour operator, they are very expensive.

I strongly suggest that you take their exact itinerary (down to the exact lodging) and send it to a couple of local tour operators in Arusha, Tanzania. The cheapest prices that I found while I was looking for an aborted Tanzanian safari were Tanzania Serengeti Adventures, Predator Tours, Peacock Tours and Roy Safaris, with Tanzania Serengeti Adventures the cheapest on every single different itinerary that I priced out.

Good luck.

Rocco is correct. While it has quite the reputation, Micato is very expensive compared to some Tanzania and Kenya based tour operators. When planning our 2002 custom safari to Kenya and Tanzania, I contacted Micato, A&K, Thompson Safaris, Ker&Downey, as well as much smaller outfits. I went with Roy Safaris out of Arusha, Tanzania since they were approx. $1,500 pp LESS for the exact same itinerary I got priced from Micato. I did not think a free safari hat and dinner with the Pinto family was worth the extra money.
