Err... Egypt is in Africa!

And since Africa is an entire continent, I think you need to narrow it down a little more.

Where in the rest of Africa do you wish to travel besides Egypt. The easiest is usually East Africa (Kenya & Tanzania) and Egypt.

Sorry I realize it is the same continent. We want to go to Cario and Kenya. Would it be possible to do both in about 3 weeks? How far are they apart? I can't seem to find the airline that flys between the them.

Check Egypt Air and Kenya Air. There are plenty of itineraries that do both countries.

The standard Egypt itinerary is about 8-9/days - 2-3/days Cairo area including the Pyramids, Sphinx, Memphis, Saqqara, Museum, Old/Coptic Cairo, Bazaar; 4-5 days Nile Cruise and 1-day Abu Simbel.

That leaves the rest for Kenya. So it's definitely doable.
