Greetings,

If you've been reading the thread Help with Egypt Itinerary, you've seen that our trip doesn't include Alexandria. Given the number of days we have in Egypt, we weren't able to fit Alexandria in, unfortunately. Lo and behold, Air France cancelled our flight from Cairo to Paris on the return, so we're extending by one day. We have a call scheduled with Go Luxor Tours on Monday morning to review the itinerary, so I'm thinking of asking them to include a day trip to Alexandria.

I'll do some research this weekend before I talk to Go Luxor on Monday, but I'd love to open it to Fodorites. With one day in Alexandria, what should we not miss?

Here are the places I saw in Alexandria:

Qaitbey Forttress…………..go here and take pictures, nice view from here

Alexandria Catacombs.... very interesting place

Pompey's Pillar and Sphinx with the Roman Amphitheatre. go here , walk about , take pictures.

Cecil Hotel is on the site where Cleopatra committed suicide !!

Mohammed Ali Square and statue, and Saad Zaghoud Square

Take pictures of Montazah Palace and Montazah Bridge

Have lunch in a cafe right beside the Mediterranean Sea as the waves splash against the walls of the building.!!!

Visit Abdul Abbas Mosque

Tomb of Unknown Soldier is as you drive along the Corniche.

Library Building....make sure you see this place.
End the day with a visit to a bakery shop for Egyptian pastries !! the smell inside is heavenly
