Advice for 1st tip to Kenya
 

We are planning a trip to Kenya in September 2018. There will be three adults. Our current itinerary is 2 nights in Nairobi, 3 nights in the Lewa Conservancy, and 3 nights in the Maasai Mara area. The trip is coming in above our budget and we are looking at maybe going to the Amboseli National Park in place of the Lewa Conservancy. This will be the trip of a lifetime, since none of us will be able to afford to go again. Our main goal is to see animals. I'm sure that anywhere we go we will see spectacular things and many, many animals. We don't need to stay in the most luxurious places, but after doing some research we know we don't want sleep on mats on the ground and we want to fly between camps. Can someone with experience in the area give me some advice. What are the pros and cons, or the difference between the Lewa and Amboseli areas? Aside from Rhinos in the Lewa, are there other big difference in the types and quantities of animals in both places? Does anyone have another idea of where to go that would be less expensive then the Lewa and they would recommend over Amboseli? Is the view of Mt Kilimanjaro from Amboseli a spectacular sight or not something that would be a big draw?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If Lewa is too expensive why not Samburu?
Samburu is very special with unique animal species while Ambosely's fauna is similar to Mara's

We did our first safari with Amboseli and Mara several years ago with Gamewatchers, which runs the comfortable but not luxurious Porini camps in community run conservancies - overflowing with animals and no other tourists. In the Salkantay conservancy near Amboseli we spent time in the local village (amazing cultural experience), visited Amboseli park (yes, those Kili views were epic, but not the primary reason for going there) and went on a fantastic walking safari. We then flew to the Mara, which was mindblowing on every level.

I was sorry to miss other parts of Kenya, but for us Amboseli and the Mara were the perfect combo for our schedule and budget at the time. A friend is about to go on a similar Here's my trip report:
