Advice about travel in Namibia

After reading this forum and other sources, we have come to think Namibia may be the place for our first trip to Namibia. We are particularly struck by the beauty of the desert and of course, the wildlife. We're wondering about the cost a hiring a car to travel around? Also any suggestions from others who have travelled on a budget in Namibia. Is two weeks sufficient? Also, are there sites on-line where you can arrange accomodation. We're thinking of going some time around the middle of 2000, say August. We're flexible though, as it's part of a RTW trip. Any help would be appreciated.

Advice and ideas on Namibia - www.travelinafrica.co.za

Namibia is so gorgeous - its is so diverse and beautiful. This is my favourite country within Southern Africa.
However - just remember that its huge and everything is so far apart.
Its probably easiest to rent a car from SA and return it there - its also usually far cheaper to fly in there also. If you want advice on this you can mail me direct or check out the page.
