Adapter/converter for African safari???
 

OMG! I can't believe we are less than 3 months from our 'trip of a lifetime'! Any advice on what to bring for recharging our camera equipment? Adapters? Converters? I have no idea and could use the help.

The adapter differs by country. Which country/ies are you going to? You can google adapter and country name to get a picture and to buy it.

Or buy the kit with all the adapters (plugs) for countries worldwide. Many kits also include the converter (from 110+ to 220+). Prices range from $25-$50, depending on where bought; they'll last for years of travel.

You will not need the converter if your electrical devices are already 220+, so do verify (often tiny writing on rear) that all devices are or at least dual-voltage.

Some dual-voltage devices work as is with only the adapter plug; nothing for you to do but insert into outlet. If dual, as a hairblower, be sure while in any foreign country the device is properly set or they will blow or melt away.

My vote also for the worldwide adapter kit. You should be able to find it at Best Buy/Circuit City or similar places if you live in the US.

The best idea someone ever gave me was to bring a small extension cord with several plugs. You could plug the extension cord into the converter/adapter in and then plug multiple things in for re-charging. I now take that on all trips as most rooms only have one plug and that just doesn't work for two people with lots of electronic gadgets!! And this way we can share one converter/adapter set.

My worldwide kit did not have the proper South Africa plug. I got it at Best Buy. I was able to buy the correct plug in Simons Town.
