Accommodation in Cape Town

My Husband and I will be spending 5 nights in Cape Town next March with our son, his wife and 1 yr old.
We are looking for accommodation with some kitchen facilities. Does anyone have suggestions for a place to rent? And in which area in or near Cape Town is it advisable to stay based on safety considerations? Our son likes to jog in early morning, and we all enjoy walking to restaurants and points of interest.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Check Airbnb for good options. I prefer accommodations with kitchen facilities too. There are guest houses and condos all over the city and country. Www.safarinow.com might be helpful too.

Any of the tourist or high end residential areas will be fine. You’ll have to do some research to find a guest house near restaurants.

Also see if More Apartments is what you are looking for. The price is a bit steep, especially compared to other options but it’s got a kitchen.

We rented a flat from Cape City Suites in April 2016. We were extremely satisfied with their accommodation in Cartwright's Corners, a refurbished 1960s high rise on Adderley Street in the centre of the city.

Some prefer staying in an ocean-front suburb but for our purposes, the downtown location (near Company Gardens, Bo-Kaap, Die Waterkant and the main restaurant area) was ideal. Secure indoor parking too. Always felt safe in that.location and walked everywhere.

CCS is a family business with ex-pat Dutch owners. They have 4 units in that one building.

We're renting from them again in 2 weeks!!! We took the 16th floor unit this time and the views should be amazing.

Tedgale, you certainly have a knack for finding great apartments to rent.

Thanks for the tip!!

Thanks ekscrunchy. Praise from you is praise indeed!

After the downtown rental, we're staying 2 nights in the suburbs, near the entrance gate to Kirstenbosch, in a large studio unit in the garden of a house in Bishopscourt.

We'll use that for visiting Kirstenbosch, Constantia and Cape Point/ Cape of Good Hope.

We've also booked some atypical all-inclusive nature reserves - one pricey, one not at all pricey.

The former is Mount Camdeboo, in the Great Karoo. The latter is a fledgling operation, Rooiberg Safaris outside Ladismith in the Klein Karoo.

Outside Plettenberg Bay, we're staying again at a superb hilltop self-catering operation, Alkantmooi. Spotless accommodation, extremely well run and s very scenic setting.
