Abu Simbel Hotels
I am trying to put together a trip to Egypt and after reading all of the great comments about Abu Simbel I decided we need to go there too...I inquired about flying from Luxor to Aswan and then on to Abu Simbel all in the same day. Looks like we are going to spend one night there. Can anyone recommend a good hotel?

I didn't stay at Abu Simble when I was in Egypt - I took a day trip from Aswan which I think is what the vast majority of people tend to do.
Therefore I can't advise on good hotels but to get you started with some info I did read that there are three hotels nearby: Nefertari Hotel (4*), Seti Abu Simbel (5*) and a cheaper option the Abu Simbel Village.
Note that these star ratings are Egyptian.

Theres not much to pick from in Abu Simbel. If you want to spend the night there you're better off taking the Lake Nasser cruise. The E-air flights to Abu Simbel take tourists in and wait two hours more or less and take them out. Are you sure you didn't misunderstand something? Most likely you will be spending the night in Aswan. Lucky you if this is the case.

Well, we are putting this trip together ourselves. At the moment, I have it set up where we would arrive in the morning and leave the following afternoon. Leaving us some time at the sites after most of the day visitors have left, which from what I'm hearing seems to be the majority.
Is there anyone who has stayed there and would recommend it?? If not, I may consider flying back to Aswan for the night...Thanks for the tips to the previous posters

Hello gktravels - I am in the process of putting together a similar situation, trying to stay in Abu Simbel.
Do you have your flight confirmed on EgyptAir already? My TA has informed me that doing it disjointed (instead of all in one day) will not guarantee me a space on the plane as all seats get taken up by those coming to/from Cairo/Aswan.
Just wondering what you've found. I'm still waiting to hear from my TA about this.
Thanks.

I'm also going to Egypt in about a month. I asked a friend who has been there a number of times and stayed in Abu Simbel what he thought. His reply was that seeing the sun rise on the temples was probably one of the best experiences he's had in Egypt. Well worth staying there over night. He stayed at the Nefertari Hotel and thought it was okay and only a 10 minute walk to the temples. I saw the Abu Simbel Hotel listed in my guide book and I'm curious about it. I don't know how far it is from the temples or how basic it is, but I would like to know if anyones stayed there.
Thanks
Thanks
