A pangolin story (with photos)

I wish these were my photos I have not had the holy grail of sightings. Yet.

'The pangolin is an extremely difficult animal to see and is considered by many guides in Africa to be the holy grail of sightings,' he said.

'You can spend your whole life driving round the bush and never see one.
'So when we came across one being attacked by a lion, we could not believe our eyes.

'The pangolin was obviously having a really bad day.'

When our guides ask us what we want to see today, I always cry out "Pangolin"! It always makes them laugh. Most of our fellow safari-goers have no idea what I'm talking about. Makes us laugh.

Thanks for reminding me about our holy Grail. Just another reason to go back again and again.

Hi Cindy
No, the pangolin could have had a far worse day! It looks a smallish one as I am actually surprised a young subadult could pick it up in its mouth. I don't think many adults would even bother unless they were really hungry. Makes me think back on my best pangolin sighting and realise how lucky I was, although I knew that, not sure if the other vehicle guests did!
When are you returning to Africa? I am most fortunate to be going back 10 January and cannot wait!

Kind regards

Kaye

Great pics. The look on the lion's face is precious, wondering "what is this that I can't eat it?" I too have the pangolin on my "must see" list!
