A good safari video?

Does anyone know of a good "safari video" that shows what it's like to be on safari?

Something that shows the game drives, accommodations, sundowners, etc?

I've seen "Africa: The Serengeti" but wondering if anyone has any other recommendations?

Thanks!

Why do I get the feeling you will be using this video as "propaganda" to recruit a travel buddy or two?

I've looked up Africa travel videos in the library and found some good ones for various countries.

Ha! I just thought there MUST be a good video out there that shows what it's like to be on safari (for those who can't actually afford one!)

I'm not sure you will be able to get a good "safari video". If i were you i would look in the local library. Also try and do searches on youtube. An expensive way is to contact most of the safari lodges in Africa and ask for their videos. I'm not sure how much they will charge you.

There are a couple of Norman Carr videos on you tube.

I'm sure there are other operators who have videos on there too.

Also, Africa Travel Resource have some videos of camps and game drives. Not sure if it's exactly what you have in mind but it might help...

Here is a one minute video my friends and I shot on a trip to Namibia and Botswana in April:

(You'll need to copy and past the entire URL above, the Fodors forum doesn't like the ~ in a URL)

I think it gives a good overview of what you do on a safari.

(One note, the reference to Zamibia at the end is a joke, and yes we know that's not a country)

Try "Wild Safari 3D." I saw it in IMAX a couple of years ago (but not in 3D), and it may be available on Netflix. It's filmed as though one is inside an open safari vehicle. It's an OK movie; they focus way too much on the Big 5 for my liking.

I think the best way to show what drives are like is to point someone towards wildearth's live game drive stream. I've learned a lot about southern African ecology just by watching this stream every once in a while.
