9 yr. old grandson on dream trip
We've got the airline tickets and are set for mid November with our 9 yr old grandson. I've been communicating with Lady Egypt and am sure we will book with them.
I orginally thought a nile cruise would be perfect for him as we only have 9 days in Egypt and since we've never travelled with him internationally it might be too rushed. (and definitely want to see Abu Simbel. ) But, I met someone who suggested to me that a cruise might be too boring for him and perhaps more time on land (Luxor) would be better a better way to spend our time.
Please, what do you think?

We've done both with kids around that age. My boys were the only kids on the Nile cruise - but there were 2 of them and they helped keep each other entertained.
We also spent 3 days in Luxor on another trip, staying at the Movenpick Jolie. I think it is now owned by someone else. It was about 10 minutes from town, but we loved it. It's on it's own island, so lots of room for kids to roam around and explore. DH and boys got bikes one day (not great bikes, but they functioned) and rode around the island. We also took a felucca ride on the Nile one night.
We loved the Nile cruise, but staying in Luxor might offer the most flexibility for your grandson.

Thanks, Tom for your time. We have been on a Baja cruise with him and that was never a concern for us.
Carry, I'm really leaning toward more time in Luxor. How old are your boys now? I wonder what they would say if you'd ask them?
GRC...I read your previous post and thought your suggestions were great!
