Heathrow has a lounge for the hoi polloi for a cost. Take a look at the Heathrow website, not the BA site. I stayed there for a few hours fa few years ago. It was fine, but not as nice as the BA Business Class lounge.

I have a question about for anyone who's stayed at the LHR Yotel on a long layover between flights. If you arrive and/or depart from a different terminal than Terminal 4, do you need to exit the "secure" area to get to the Yotel (and then go through security again to get to your onward flight)? I looked at the map, but I don't know Heathrow well enough to picture where the Yotel is actually located.

Yes, the Yotel is outside the secure area in Terminal 4.

Thanks, Jane! That was quick. :)

Sunshine,
In your opinion would it be worth a day room for a 10 hr layover at Heathrow if we were flying business class, or is the lounge really comfy & have showers for that length of time? Thanks! Lynda |
Heathrow airport is just like any other airport, bad expensive food and boring, if your flight arrives on time go into central London you can get approx 4 hours there.
London is vibrant you have time to take the open top bus ride round it to see the sights. |
Just got back yesterday -- on the way TO Africa we had a 9 hr layover and (after showering and change of clothes at BA Arrival Lounge) took the tube (1 hr) into London, had a very nice lunch and stroll around Mayfair, then took the Tube back with no problems at all. Helped us get out in daylight to reset our internal clocks. (We tried to keep our carry-ons to a reasonable size since we toted them with us, although the Arrival Lounge did have a room to leave luggage.)
On the return flight we had 5 hours in the very nice BA Business Class lounge in T4 that we used for showers, breakfast (we slept through breakfast on flight from Nairobi), first internet access in 10 days, etc. Plus a tiny shopping spree at the airport Harrod's <smile> |
