We had a wonderful day outing to the Dune Field Reserve early in January. Something really different and very enjoyable and informative.
I suggest that while at Port Alfred, you take an outing to Bathurst and have a look at the Horseshoe Bend in the river (lovely picnic area in the middle of nowhere), visit a couple of the 1820 settlers historical sites, and have a look at the Big Pineapple.

We live in Cape Town and your trip sounds great.

An alternative to lunch at Boschendal would be lunch at Moyo which is on the Spier estate - fantastic African village set up where you have lunch in the tree tope - really! If you decide to go - you must book - call 1023 directory enquiries when you are here and ask for Spier wine estate inStellenbosch or try Moyo in Stellenbosch, otherwise Spier would put you through. Ask for a table inthe tree tops. May be they have a web site - google moyo south africa or spier south africa and see.

When you go to Simons Town, book for lunch at the Harbour House in Kalk Bay and ask for a table in the window above the waves -w e often go there for lunch - order the daily specials fromthe black board - otherwise Simons town hgas a nice little waterfront section, but if you are going to the main Cape Town V&A waterfront in the afternoon, don't do 2 waterfronts.

are you aware that Knysna is a 6 hour drive from Cape Town? I'm sure you are.

Please be careful we do have a crime problem. The best way to dela with the street people is to give a little smile and say "no thank you not today" and keep walking. Please keep your car doors locked and your bags in the boot and just be sensible and you will be fine. I have lived here for 22 years and had no major crime hassles.

Have fun
