Zanzibar 1st Time - Few Days

Hi everyone,

A friend and I are visiting Zanzibar in March. We will be there for 4/5 days (our flight arrives around 8:30 am, and departs at 9:55 am day of departure.) We would like to stay by the beach, but spend some time in Stone Town as well. We're looking for safe, comfortable accommodations that aren't super pricey. We've been digging around, but are sort of overwhelmed with the options for location/accommodations. Open to B&B and hotels. Any suggestions for places to stay or things to do would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I should add, we are considering the South/South-East coast. Thank you!

Are you looking for a place that offers activities or will you be looking for rest & relaxation at the beach?

Pongwe Beach Hotel is on the east coast of the island about mid way up. Pretty reasonable prices but not many activities on site and no air conditioning.

I'm currently looking at Shooting Star Lodge which is even further north and they're offering a Stay 4 Pay 3 package right now.

I know these aren't south or south east but thought I'd throw them out there anyway. Any particular reason why you're looking at south and south east?

In Stone Town I previously stayed at Beyt Al Salaam located on the outer circle of old town and across the street from the Serena. The restaurant in the hotel is one of the best in Stone Town in my opinion and where you'll enjoy your breakfast if a guest at the hotel.

This time I'm looking at Tembo Hotel, not far from the above and right on the beach and reasonably priced.

To Experience beach holiday and Swahili culture in Zanzibar, it is better you spend night in Stone town and other nights in South East coast of Paje or Jambian.

Stone town recommended beach Hotels are Mtoni Marine or Tembo beach, they are cheap and quality.

Zanzibar East Coast beach resorts are coral reef beach hotel and crystal resort
