4 day serengeti/great migration
sorry just want to narrow my last topic to get a more specific answer:
starting from arusha on a budget 4/5-day safari, will it be possible to see both the ngorongoro crater and the great migration in the northwest part of the park?? |
bronwyn9
it's not recommendable, bur maybe possible (in contrary to my answer to your previous post) if you leave Arusha early morning 1. Arushaa - Ngorongoro leave very early, go down the caldera floor, leave latest possible; sleep Ngorongoro area 2. drive to Seronera (game drive en route) sleep Seronera 3. Seronera --> NW safari njema aby 4. NW --> Seronera 5. --> Arusha |
aby,
On day 2, could you do another 1/2 day in the crater if that was of interest? How many hours on the road do you estimate Day 5 is? Maybe 7-8 hours? Now this would be more expensive, but if time is the contstrained resource rather than money in this case, maybe it would be worth it. 1 Fly from Arusha to N. Serengeti and have your guide meet you there 2 N. Serengeti 3 Drive to Seronera 4 To Crater maybe crater game drive this afternoon or day 5 or both 5 Maybe crater game drive in morning or instead do it on day 4 or both and back to Arusha Here is a site with some flight schedules http://www.regionaltanzania.com/timetable.asp If these days are in the middle of a Tanzania trip, then a flight may not be feasible because you'd be sending vehicles and guides all over and that gets costly. |
My costly solution is probably not the best solution. I just saw the other post.

I believe it should be possible. When you get into TZ just specify with your tour operator what you would like to do.
Most safari's already stop at Ngorongoro on the way to Serengeti. You can spend your first night on the crater rim(DAY 1.) The following day you can descend into the crater and spend half a day or so driving around. Then you can head to Serengeti, set up camp and do a quick evening game drive(Day 2). Then all day three you can spend touring Serengeti and camp there(Day 3). The following day you can do a morning game drive and then head back to the crater rim @ Ngorongoro to set up camp(Day 4). The following day you will head back to Arusha (Day 5). It may well work out for you. |
As other thread, OP is traveling in June. Again, no need to go to Northwest Serengeti.
No farther than Western corridor or stay in Central and have game drives wherever the herds might be. They can be anywhere between the two. |
