Cradle of Humankind; Lesedi Village

Has anyone been to the Cradle of Humankind and/or Lesedi Village? We're thinking about taking them in on our next trip to South Africa. I'd love to hear any first hand reports.

I went to Lesedi years ago. There were four demonstration "villages" set up that you toured, then the evening ended with a dance show and dinner. I think you can now spend the night there. I haven't been to the "Cradle of Humankind", but it's an important archeological site. I just finished reading "Born in Africa" that details findings from this location, as well as the East African finds. If you decide to go, you might want to find this book and peruse it. It does a good job of tying together all of the fossil finds.

I visited the Cradle of Humankind in 2010. It was really interesting. I recommend it!

Thanks, guys!

Can you do the two of them in the same day? The web site for the Cradle of Humankind is very good; it lets you know how things are organized and what to expect; but the Lesedi web site is kinda short on practical details.

Hmm I'm not sure if you can do both in one day. It might be too rushed. We took our time visiting the museum and caves at the Cradle of Humankind. The scenery was pretty nice despite the bad weather we got.

Hmm. I think we'll plan on just the Cradle of Humankind, then. I'll look for the book, Shay Tay.

Thanks to all of you.
