2-hr layover in Casablanca - worth leaving airport?
It looks like I will have a 12-hr layover in Casablanca :( Having zero knowledge about Casablanca's layout, I'm just wondering from people who have been there:
- is it realtively quick and easy to get to town and back from the airport? - is there a place to store luggage in the airport for the day? - would it be way too complicated/costly to bother? I don't know what there is to see or whether it would be too much stress, but really appreciate advice! thanks, mp413 |
Sorry I just realized I omitted a numeral in my heading! It should read TWELVE hour layover, not two!!

absolutely---my dad and i had a few hours to kill in Casablanca in the evening time---we stopped by Rick's Cafe for a drink and drove by the enormous mosque which is quite dramatic at night...12 hours is a looong time to spend in an airport---find a great restaurant, have a drink at Rick's (I know this sounds touristy but it's well done and fun) and go by the mosque which sits out over the sea....don't stay holed up at the airport...

Ok great! Any idea if there is a place to store luggage for the day? I'm going to have big bags.
Any other recommendations? I have 14 hours, actually. |
With it being a layover, won't the bags just be checked to the next destination? Not sure if they have a place to stow the luggage to be honest as we spent the night there--perhaps even a nice hotel might store them for a fee (or nice tip) we only had a few hours so thats all I know to do, but I'm sure a couple hours could be spent at the mosque---a couple more with dinner and drinks at Rick's (you will definitely hear "As Time Goes By" a time or two lol) I don't think there's too many other tourist points of interest but there's bound to be another good restaurant to try---14 hours, you'll need a couple meals for sure

Good point, that hadn't occurred to me but I guess you are right that I wouldn't have to deal with my bags. I will have a pretty heavy carry-on with laptop etc. but I wouldn't leave that anywhere anyway. I arrive in the morning and leave around 8pm :( Thanks a lot for the info., I will stop in at Rick's for sure!
