Mark - the OP doesn't know what he wants. He's asking for advice and opinions. When planning a first safari, it can be overwhelming due to so many options. He is wise to ask people who have been there.
I happen to be a fan of Southern Africa and would suggest either a Botswana mobile - check out Eyes on Africa for some available scheduled safaris with itineraries and costs. Some are high end, others are participation camping. Their website is excellent. If you are in Brooklyn, the safari agent I used was classicafrica.com. Based in CT, but were excellent over the phone and e-mail. They have very good info on their website for southern Africa, with some interesting itineraries. I loved our Sabi Sands, Pafuri, Mashatu trip a few years back. Easy transfers, three different Eco-systems and easily modified to suit your time frame and budget. Enjoy your planning. Consider southern Africa - it is less crowded than East Africa. |
thanks again all. Trip is booked. Incorporated a few of your warnings here so thank you all, truly much appreciated. Can't wait! Now on to the rest of my trip (and different forums).
