Help! Problem of the passport

Help!
I am a Chinese student in Norway.
I have given my passport to the British Embassy for visa to the UK, but now I need to go to Rome with my school. I have a copy of my passport and the visa. And I also have an ID card with my D number which proves my temporary residence in Norway.
Is it possible for me to go to Rome with all the documents I have now?
Thank you very very much if you can help me!

I think I'd ring the airline who would take you. They have to bring you back if you cannot get through customs so they will know

I don't know with 100% certainty the answer to your question, but I doubt that the airline will allow you to fly unless you can show an original valid passport. The airline probably have a description of what ID cards they acknowledge on their web site.

I suggest you call the Police at Oslo Airport and ask their advice. Phone: 6481 9500.

By customs I believe bbb refers to immigration/passport control. There is no immigration control upon arrival in Rome from Norway. Both Italy and Norway are part of the Schengen area. I do believe though that even if there aren't passport controls you are required to carry your passport with you - of that I'm not sure though.

The real question is as arvin asks - will the airline let you fly, and will Oslo airport security let you through security without a passport. I don't know the answer to that question.

You need a valid passport or an EU identity card to fly within Schengen. The airline will want to see it at check in and boarding.
I don't know if your temporary residence ID will be sufficient. According to one site it is, but to be certain you should contact your local police.
However according to http://europa.eu/travel/doc/index_en.htm as a non EU citizen you still need your passport to travel, though it does say your residents permit will act as a visa.

I'd check with your local police or maybe contact an airline for more help. Whilst the police or Norwegian immigration service would be the most reliable source of information it's no use if the airline won't accept your ID card.
