Non-smoking areas in Tunica?

Does anyone know if any of the Tunica casinos have any designated non-smoking areas on their gaming floors, specifically in slot areas?

Thanks so much!

There are none that I can think of.

There have been a few places off and on, but I'm not sure which are still functioning. There used to be an upstairs room in Gold Strike that had video poker machines (and I think slot machines) that was non-smoking. I think it's still there. There also used to be an area upstairs at Harrah's, but they've been doing some remodeling and I think it's gone.

To my knowledge there have never been any non-smoking areas on main floor gaming rooms in Tunica.

Thanks lmz and SusanCS for your replies. At least I know a couple of places to try. Any thoughts on which are the less smoky or better ventilated casinos?

I wish I could help you jayne, but Tunica casinos are REALLY smoky. Much, much worse than Las Vegas.

OK, good to know the score-- which is to be expected in tobacco country, I suppose. This will be my first trip to Tunica, and since one of my companions is smoke sensitive we will probably plan to spend more time on the Blues Trail than in the casinos.

Thanks again for responding!

I agree with Susan, they are very smoky. Last time I went I was miserable. I couldn't wait to get out of there it was so smoky.

If you head S to Clarkdale have breakfast at Blue and White in Tunica on your way to Clarksdale. Blue and White is on the right as you go through Tunica. It's Blue and White and used to be a service station. Clarksdale is about 50 miles from the casinos. When you reach Clarksdale you will be on U. S. 61 which bypasses the city. Take a right just N of Clarksdale to downtown and you will be on N. State St. You will pass a big cotton gin on your right then you will see The Ranchero on your right. Abe's will be on your left just up the road. Past Abe's you will come to Sunflower which is just before the Sunflower River Bridge. Turn right and go N on Sunflower to the railroad tracks. Go back to your right just past the RR tracks and you will find Ground Zero and The Blues Museum. Madidi's is a few blocks to your N. Hick's is on N. State St. Go back S on Sunflower to N. State St. and go to the right cross the bridge and Hick's is on your right. President Clinton had lunch with Eugene before he left office but Hick's was in an old location back near the RR tracks. Ask for Eugene and ask him to show you his President Clinton photo's. He loves to show them.

I'd wait a while before you call. All 9 casinos in Tunica have been closed due to flooding and are just beginning to reopen.

Update on that. Two or three casinos reopened this past weekend and others are due to open next weekend.

Just FYI, the Hollywood was the only casino that had a non-smoking section. It was totally closed off from the rest of the gaming floor, and my friend actually did very well in there!

Wow, jayne! Could you tell me exactly where in Hollywood the non-smoking section is? I've never seen it at all!

Susan,

As I recall, it was on the far right back wall of the first floor-- not far from the players club. It is totally glassed in-- you can see inside.
