EUROPE 2010 TRIP HIGHLIGHTS

May 29 Rome - Imagine the horror when my brother made a mistake on the time of his flight he was supposed to fly at 2:40 AM but he thought his flight was 2:40 PM so we bought another flight and he came to Rome at 8:20 PM instead of 12 PM I arrived there at 2 PM. looked for a hotel room and then went alone to colosseo and spanish steps. We were supposed to meet in Rome then ride a train to Milan.

May 30 Milan - We stayed at Hilton Milan Hotel, gave us a crappy room but who are we to complain it was only 24 euros a night. After that we went to Duomo Cathedral and Vittorio Emanuel (Champs Elysees of Paris) and then met with a friend.

May 31 Venice - Day trip to Venice was fun. We deposited our luggages in the luggage room at the Train Station then we went around had a grand canal cruise and stayed the whole day at St Mark's Square. It was really windy so Even if I wanted to have a gondola ride I would have only puked. at night we flew to Hagen via Ryan Air

June 1 - My Aunt and Uncle brought us to Cologne Cathedral and a day trip to Brussels. I told them we were going there but I didn't want to argue anymore. It gave us 3 hours back and forth to sleep! They showed us Manneken Pis, Brussels Square and Atomium.

June 2 We got lost on our way to Amsterdam. We were supposed to take the train Hagen HBF- Essen HBF - Amsterdam - Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. But my brother pushed me to get out of the train when it reached Essen Kray (one station before Essen HBF) Agghh I was about to cry but knowing me I loved the fact that we got lost so we bought a ticket (paid by the guy who helped us, he speaks english.) the ladies don't speak and refused to help us. I thought we were going to sleep there! But thankfully there was the same trip every hour. We stayed at Hilton Amsterdam Schiphol Airport Hotel. We just slept after eating.

June 3 Amsterdam We went everywhere and when we got tired we decided to get online. We found an internet joint (it's correct) Internet cafe where you can smoke joint. So imagine me smiling the whole day while going around. We met a filipina working in Rjksmuseum for 13 years as a cashier and she gave us 25% discount on painting replicas.

June 4 We stayed at Hilton Brussels City. we came in the afternoon and we decided to go back to manneken pis and Grand Place to see it at night and we ate paella in one of the restaurants nearby.

June 5 We got lost again or override. Instead of Bruges, we fell asleep in the train and ended up in Gent but it turned out to be a nice place although some buildings are under restoration. We also went to a clothng museum called C&A (hehe) all the clothes are nice and affordable.

In the afternoon we went to Bruges (my fave town!) it's so beautiful there! I wish i had bought a lot of chocolates because they are to die for!

June 6 we went to the Palais Royal and Quincentennaire and in the afternoon we rode the Thalys train to Paris. so expensive but it was worth it! love love love! when we arrived to Paris we deposited our luggage to the train station storage then we went to Notre Dame at the Isle de la Cite Love saying it! Then in the evening we met our host Lucie Servant (french girl who's house is a mess like mine but with a cat. I hate having cat hair all over me but she was really really nice and helpful and really sweet!

June 7 We had a river cruise Im so happy with my 12 euros. I saw a lot of Paris and it showed a bit of the eiffel tower I love it!!!!! In the evening we went to Musee du louvre but it was already 5 pm when we finished taking photos of the whole ground so we decided to come back next time to visit Mona Lisa and others.

June 8 We transfered to Hilton Orly Airport Hotel. We went to Champs Elysees. My old rubber shoes smiled to his death so I had to go to Adidas and buy a black walking shoes. It's so expensive but totally worth it because I bought it in Paris and it's made in China! We took photo of the Arc ad then went to the eiffel tower. at night we had treated our host to a french dinner. I even drank a glass of red wine to fall asleep easily it was a wonderful peaceful sleep (at least for me) but my brother said I snored (only because i was congested due to weather and/or the smell of joint in Amsterdam)

June 9 we went to the Louvre and this time saw the artworks and the famous MonaLisa and her girl Venus de Milo. In the afternoon we went to the Chateau de Versailles. even thought it was raining it was still sooooo beautiful and my brother said it was a total eyecandy. We didn't even talk to the people in Versailles so we never knew if they can truly speak English. In the evening we went back to Notre Dame to take night photos and ate at Latin qarter after going online for one hour and deciding if my brother is going to buy the gargoyle statues. He didn't.

June 10 Paris Disney!!!!! Then at night (which is still very light) we went to Montmarte to see the Sacre Coeur and Paris View. Then we went to the Jardin des Tuileries to rest on the green benches while we wait for sun down. We only got pushed to go when we saw fro there the twinkling of the eiffel tower but we had to stop at the louvre for the night shots. At 12 we finally saw the twinkling of the tower when it struck 12 MN.

June 11 Flight to Madrid. We were so late and we were running for our lives to catch the train only to find out that the terminal 2B is in the last farthest part of Charles de Gaulle and when we got there, the flight was delayed. We arrived to Hilton madrid Airport they gave us the executive king room so beautiful so we just ate then at 5 PM we covered the whole room and slept until 6 AM.

June 12 We went to Plaza Del Toros for the bullfight but i was afraid to watch. We went around Plaza Mayor, we did a walking tour and we saw KFC so we ate there and wrote on the postcards and then walked again to meet Antoni's friend at a local restaurant that served Paella. She toured us around Retiro Park. We didn't see much because we were very tired. But they have the cleanest most organized Metro System so Im happy to go around. I ate churros con chocolate for breakfast yeah and bacon and eggs and fruits and yogurt, etc.

June 13 our train ride to Barcelona. I wanted to sleep but the countryside was so beautiful so my brother slept and when it's my turn it's only 10 minutes to Barcelona Sants Train Station. Hilton Barcelona is a bit nice and the staff are so nice too. This time I didn't eat bacon anymore in the morning I had too many sores from eating too much salty bacon and sausages so I just ate fruits for breakfast. We went to Las Ramblas at night and got lost at Barri Gothic

June 14 We went to Sagrada Familia Church and in the afternoon at Park Guell.

June 15 We went to Picasso Museum. After that we ate lunch at Princess 23 very close to the museum. The food was lovely and the crowd at that time were crazy because of FIFA game Spain VS _____ and went to Las ramblas again to get online. My mother needs to know where we were at the time and we checked out the stores there.

June 16 Early morning flight to Rome. We stayed at the Hilton Rome Cavalieri (Waldorf Astoria Collection member) It slipped my mouth that it was my second WAC (one where I am working) so instead of giving us the first floor. Nancy and Olga gave us the Imperial room at the 8th floor. Twin Deluxe! we just refreshed then we went to the Barberini trying to find Via Veneto. We found a local restaurant that serves authentic Italian food. sooooo good then we tried to find via veneto again to look at the cool stores but ended up in spanish steps and fontana di trevi also I thought the last bus service of WAC was at 10 it was at 8 pm so we took a taxi that cost us 10 euros.

June 17 We went to the Colosseo, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum. We went back to WAC to take a nap. Then went back the City Center to go around. I will see from the photos which activity we did but also finished late so we took a taxi from the vatican which was supposed to be cheaper but it was 9.50

June 18 We went to the Vatican city but didn't go to the Museum because the line was sooooo long so we just went to the St Peter's Basilica. sistine chapel was also long lone. Then we bought tshirts, then we found out that the place where the WAC bus stops all the time was THE VIA VENETO so we went around and inside Hard rock cafe to buy tshirts and stuff. At night we went back to the trevi fountain to take night shots and taxi driver's meter was running faster than the taxi itself. we paid 18.50. The driver knew I was pissed off even I was speaking in my native tongue.

June 19 We spend the morning with a slow breakfast, then took photos of the whole suite and flight back to jeddah.

Thanks to everyone who commented on my last topic. I really appreciated all your insights.

I'm soooo coming back!

Hanggang sa muli! ('Til next time!)

Thanks for your responses!

girlonthego, there are many tourist spots in each city but we decided to pick the best ones and then if we had time we would go to the rest. It's easy because there are free maps for tourists. When we felt tired we rested and just enjoyed the vacation.
