Paris to Metz by Train- student travelling alone
My son will be travelling to Metz for a 5wk study abroad program. Apparently airfare and travel arrangements are the responsibility of the family. I do not see any trains going from the Paris airport (CDG) to Metz. . Does the CDG train go to some hub and then to Metz. I would appreciate help with finding train schedulesm, because I am particularly worried about his return to Paris, since he will need to be to CDG in advance of an 11:20am flight.
Also , any tips on finding the best airfare? Thanks

Trains to Metz depart from the Gare de l'Est. The ride takes 1.5 to 2.5 hours, depending on whether it's a direct train or requires a change. You can check schedules at www.voyages-sncf.com.
If your son's plane leaves CDG at 11:20, he should be at the airport at 8:20. He would have to catch a VERY early train from Metz to get to the Gare de l'Est and then to CDG. I would recommend he go to Paris the night before and spend the night either in the city or at the airport.

www.bahn.de has all europe train skeds
from cdg to metz takes about 2 hrs with a change of stations in paris the stations are within 10 city blocks from each other
for the return the earliest train is too late for his flight
