Grenada

So my fiance and I are planning our honeymoon to the carribean. We think we want Grenada. Spice Island seems to get the most accolades. However, is there anywhere good that doesn't cost an arm and a leg in Grenada that you recommend? (Other than La Luna, Calabash)

There are several hotels to choose from including: Coyaba Beach Resort, Grenadian by Rex Resorts, Blue Horizons Garden Resort, Flamboyant Hotel & Villas, Mount Cinnamon Beach Resort, True Blue Bay Resort. There is a full list of resorts, villas, apartments, cottages and guest houses on the official website of the Board of Tourism... www.grenadagrenadines.com .. There is a good variety of accommodation on island so you are sure to find something great. Have a great honeymoon!

You picked a great island for your honeymoon. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Would you consider a villa? There are some villas in the Lance Aux Epines area that are great. ejcrowe has stayed in one and she can give you her experience.

I think Mt. Cinnamon would be a good alternative and the closest to the other hotels you named in terms of star rating. It gets very good reviews on TA.

Are you looking for an all-inclusive or other?

My wife and I have stayed at the Blue Horizons twice and would not hesitate to return. We like to have our own kitchenette rather than staying all-inclusive.

Grenada is a special place that you will thoroughly enjoy. Now I know it is your honeymoon but do get out and about to ensure you get the full Grenada experience.

Great suggestion on Blue Horizons, DaveJJ.

You'll have beach chair access at Spice Island at a fraction of the price. You'll also be able to charge to your room at SIBR restaurant and bar.

Count me among the Grenada lovers on this board! When will you be taking your honeymoon? And what is your price range per night for accommodations? There are lots of places to stay on the island in all price ranges, but I'd say that some are more honeymoon worthy than others.

LaLuna is frequently listed at the auction site of www.skyauction.com--the last few I've seen went for $199/night plus taxes. Would that fit your price range? Otherwise the Grenada Grand is also auctioned frequently at that site for $75/night or so, plus taxes.

I stay at Turtleback Villa in the Lanse Aux Epines area (going back for 4th visit this June!) which is perfect for a couple as long as you don't mind not being directly on the beach. They people who own it are offering 30% off their rates this summer--not sure when you're traveling, but it's possible that they'd let you lock in the sale rates by paying now, even if you're traveling later...Honestly, in this economy, it's worth asking every place you're considering if they could give a discount off their published rates. Anyway, Turtleback's website is www.reefviewgrenada.com. Please let me know if you have any questions about it!

Grenada - brilliant idea...I am with everyone else - what an extraordinary island! We were just there and we stayed at the flamboyant - as much as I adore this hotel if you are considering in the league of SI my beloved Flamboyant is not that style...I agree with MyMoosie that Mont Cinnamon...it is really pulled together and the restaurant on site is truly lovely and the pool is very nice - although it is a bit of a walk to the beach it has a great spot on the beach with amenities...

If though I was going for a honeymoon - although this is not Grand Anse i think I would consider La Sagesse for its romance factor - unique setting, a bit out of the way in a romantic manner with great food...romantic very romantic.

If you can get an affordable price on LaLuna - oooeeee I would take that...that seemed really decadent and romantic too!

Grenada is great - that is the idea - great and beautiful, safe and wonderful people - ENJOY and congratulations!
