Favorite Oklahoma Getaway
My friend has asked me to recommend some ideas for her and her husband for a relaxing getaway out of Oklahoma City, but still in state. Can you all give me your favorite places. Doesn't have to be cheap. Clean, fun, relaxing, but not urban.

I hate answer your question in a different form, but anyway here goes. We live in Eastern OK near Ft. Smith. Our very favorite place to go is The Buffalo River, which is in AR.
Other spots, Alabaster Caverns, Talimena Drive(peak time this week- All in OK
Sorry, but the Arkansas state parks blow away Oklahoma and I have lived in OK for 40 years

Have they ever been to Bartlesville? There's an interesting Frank Lloyd Wright building there, and Murphy's makes the best hamburgers ever. I also like Woolaroc, which is the old Frank Phillips ranch just outside of Bartlesville. However, this might be a bit too urban for them.
Grand Lake might be nice. I know there are places to stay there, but I don't know particular resorts. And there are resorts on Lake Texoma in SE OK ... and Fort Washita north of Durant.
But I"m actually more in line with spirobulldog. I'd suggest Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Love that beautiful little town, and there's a lot to see nearby in the Ozarks. Beautiful country.
Of course, lakes are of less interest in the late fall and winter.

Guthrie is a short drive north of Oklahoma City and is a fantastic place to visit this time of year. Actually, will be beautiful with lights and decorations in about a month.
I'm from Tulsa and would second the suggestion of Bartlesville.
