Hi all,
Fairly new to Carribean, i've been to Barbados ten years ago but that's it.
Planning a trip for my family and have 2 young kids.
Wondering where would be warm enough in late Jan/early February.
Don't need it to be "hot" per se, but would like it to be warm enough to swim in the ocean and the pool.
Was considering Aruba or Turks and Caicos, but not sure if these are warm enough?
Also looking at St. Johns or Grand Cayman.

Any help would be much appreciated!

anywhere south of the bahamas and turks & caicos.
grand cayman on seven mile beach would be nice with kids. maybe the westin. or plantana or villas of the galleon < both condo places.
i might wait to take kids to st. john usvi until they're old enough to enjoy snorkeling.
barbados might even be a good idea as you're a bit familiar with it already.

Other than telling us you have "two young kids" and you want someplace "warm" in Late Januauary or early February you haven't given us much to go on. There are litterally scores of islands and hundreds of resorts that could accomodate you.

You should know the Turks & Caicos could be cool in January and early February. You are better off going further south.

It would also help to know how old your "young kids" are in order to best steer you in the right direction.

Also, if you can tell us what you like to do and what are seeking in a Caribbean vacation it would make it easier for us to give you suggestions.

For starters why don't you do some basic research about the various islands and what they have to offer. Go to the "Destinations" link at the top left of this page, click through to the Caribbean and rwead the short descriptions of each island. that will give you a "feel" for the different charistics of each island. Choose two or three that most interest you and then use the search feature to read recent posts about those islands. Pretty soon you'll be able to narrow you choice down to the island that most fits YOUR desire. You can then post specific questions about the resorts and tourist amenities on that island.

The further south, the warmer the island/water will be. In the more northern islands like St Maarten, TCI, Bahamas, a lot of pools are heated, so you'd want to confirm that before booking. Barbados, Grenada, Antigua, St Lucia should all be fine for you and your family.

Aruba is always "warm enough". We have been there end of Dec & end of Feb & it was gorgeous every single day....high 80's, nice breeze, gorgeous beach..Palm Beach ( but v/ crowded).

Have been to Turks in early January--swam everyday in the pool and ocean..IMO it is "warm enough".

No one said the T&C's were ALWAYS cool in January or February but rather because those islands are further north (they are actually in the Atlantic not the Caribbean) there is a possibility the weather could be cool. Temperatures in January and February have been known to drop into the 60"s F. Average daily temperature in January and February is in the high 70's F.
