4 or 5 days in the Low Countries, where to visit?

Hi! We're doing a roadtrip of Europe and are looking to be in Belgium and/or the Netherlands on the 18th of October to about the 22nd. I was wondering if people had any suggestions for such a limited trip.

We're a bunch of young guys so we'd like to split the difference between sightseeing and some nightlife.

Just got back from both. Amsterdam would be the place for you IMO. Bruges was gorgeous, but no nightlife, but lots to see.

We were in Brussels, Amsterdam, and Bruges a couple months back - and for a group of young guys, I'd choose to spend time in Amsterdam. Definitely. Good combo of sightseeing and nightlife. We found some pretty decent nightlife in Brussels too.

It's a no brainer. Park the car in Amsterdam.

No brainer?

I'd want to go to Antwerpen if I was in the neighborhood, as well as Amsterdam, specifically for the nightlife, but also the beer and the jenever, not to mention the food.

If you get to Brussels, some of the nightlife happens around Place-St-Gery / Bourse area. Good cafes and bars. There are also a lot of Irish pubs in Brussels but they are not concentrated in one area (I can think of 3, there could be more). I think the Matongé area also has some nightlife but that is a bit harder to get to than Place-St-Gery.

Here's a good place to preview the better bars in Brussels:
