Transportation from Geneva Switzerland to Turin Italy

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out how to get from Geneva Airport to Turin Centre. Is it possible to drive
in the city?(I heard you have to pay extra to drive into the city which makes me believe it's not an advisable mode of transportation).

I looked on Rail Europe's site and they take you from Geneva to Milan to Turin which is out of the way. Is there any other way to check train service other than Rail Europe when you are in two different countries? Any help getting to Turin would be appreciated. Thanks.

The official Italian site may or may not offer some help:

Or better luck here:

http://www.bahn.de/international/view/en/index.shtml

Rail Europe will add extra ticket fees while these won't.

Hi sleitner,

Two other sites with reliable information --

www.rail.ch (Swiss train site, where you can easily buy online)

www.cisalpino.com

Have fun!

I think you will find a bus to be more direct than the train.

We drove into the center of Turin this past June. No problems. Except for a couple of streets, I don't remember any pedestrian only areas.

There's no scheduled bus from Geneva airport to Turin. You need to research, and buy separate tickets for, a bus to Chamonix, a bus to Aosta and then a train or bus to Turin. It'll take a bit over 5 hrs and there's really only one a day. Tickets really have to be bought on the spot.

It's not materially slower to get a train, changing either at Ascona or Milan (both a bit over 6 hrs, but there a several a day, and you can buy a through ticket either on the web or at the airport station). Driving's about 2.5-3 hrs (getting through the tunnel can take forever), though motorway and tunnel (€41 round trip) tolls will add a pretty good extra cost to the cost.

If you want to drive round Piedmont, then go by car. If you want to stay in Turin all the time, might as well get a train
