Bangkok Airport Massage - Heaven!

we were stuck at bkk with a seriously delayed international flight last weekend. depressed and moody, we wandered around a bit-- then saw a sign for spa/beauty parlor (i think that's what it said.) wandered over (i believe it was in section G of the international wing-- flight from bkk to pek) and found the place. it didn't look great through the window... people sitting in chairs getting foot and back rubs. ah, well... bored and stuck, we signed on for massages . 300 bht (well under $10 us) for a 45 minute traditional massage. we both signed on.

sent to a room with traditional mattresses on floor and fresh jammies wrapped in plastic. maybe it was the desperation talking-- but we both had the (almost) best thai massages of the trip...(and we had many over the month!) didn't want to leave. felt like our bodies had been pummeled into happy submission and other-worldly warmth and relaxation.

changed the whole rest of the lonnnnnng trip home for us... ... highly recommended if you have any sort of a layover. thankyou, bkk and the two very strong girls who saved us! -kawh

While I haven't used the massage services in BKK, I have in two other Asian airports, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. It does change one's perspective!

The Thai Airways lounge offer free, very good, massages for premium passengers. Business class = 20 minutes foot and shoulder massage, first class = 60 minutes oil or traditional massage in a superb spa room.

While the service on Thai Air remains inconsistent, the free massage at their Lounge remains one of my travel highlights--in fact, the whole experience at the Royal Silk Lounge was truly top notch.

I'm not a massage sort of person; but I agree that the Thai Lounge is fantastic! That's the first place I head when hitting BKK airport.
