Las Vegas Casino Dress Code
We are going to Vegas for this first time during the summer months and we need to know if men are allowed to wear tank tops or muscle shirts in the casinos, restaurants and bars during the day. Obviously, that would be a no in expensive restaurants and nightclubs. We will be going June 1st. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Only if they have hair sticking out of the top on the backside. It is some kind of weird requirement.

I was just remembering a bit that used to be done on a Comedy Central show. Michael Ian Black used to be on a show called Viva Variety and one of the bits he did was this thing where he stood inside of a fake chimney that came up to his waist and then the audience would be asked to guess, "Pants or no pants?'
For some reason this was a great favorite of ours and we often use it as a private joke in odd situations. The title of this post brought it to mind, and re: casino dress code, "pants" is about the totality of the need for paying attention to your wardrobe!!
In other words (almost) anything goes!

"No problem with tatoos? And I mean sleeves of tatoos." There are a few casinos that have tattoo parlors inside.
Believe me, you could wear almost anything (or in some cases almost nothing) and not feel out of place in Vegas...

In the casinos and chain restaurants anything more than a swimsuit will be allowed - and you'll be amazed at many of the get-ups you see. Quite a few people I;ve seen look as if they're going to a costume party. Las Vegas is also the world capital of ridiculously large fake boobs.
But- you'll need to do better than this in any of the better restaurants.

I remember back in the 1960's when my parents took a trip to Vegas--my moms beehive hairdo and formal dress! My Dad in a suit! Luckily, it's just not like that anymore! You can wander in and gamble dressed in whatever you like. Very casual these days as far as daytime attire.

My husband and I just returned from Las Vegas and we would like to thank everyone for your advise on our questions. First of all, we had a great time and the temperature that day was 95 degrees. FYI, apparently there is a selectively enforced dress code for men with sleeveless shirts in the bar on the 107th floor of the Stratosphere. When we were purchasing our tickets to go up, the ticket counter person proceeded to inform us of everything to do up there including telling us to go to the 107th floor bar for a drink. She of course, saw what we were wearing. After viewing Las Vegas after dark on the outside observation deck, we went to the bar. We walked close to 2/3rds of the way around the bar looking for a seat when a women tapped my husband on the shoulder and told him he would have to leave or put on a shirt she said he could borrow. Not wanting to put on a strange shirt, we agreed to leave. On the way out I just happened to notice a few other men with sleeveless shirts on so I went back to get her, by the way she was the bar manager that night, and asked her to follow me. When I pointed out a gentleman in a sleeveless shirt sitting and drinking near the entrance, she said that she had not noticed him previously and that she would tell him the same thing and ask him to leave or put on a shirt. I decided to stay and watch her conversation with the gentleman. She then walked away from him without giving him a shirt to wear and then allowed him to continue sitting there and drinking. When I confronted her about why, she avoided my question. Apparently, a man can wear sleeveless shirts as long as he does not have multiple tatoos. We went to the hotel desk to complain and the desk manager said there was nothing he could do but try to contact her manager. At that point he picked up the phone and acted like he was trying to reach the manager and said he asked the hotel operator to page him. After waiting there for 10 to 15 minutes we left in disgust. We will never recommend anyone to go to the Stratosphere because they discriminate at will.
