Robbie, thank you so much for sharing your photos. They brought back many wonderful memories of our time in Sri Lanka and gave us a preview of places we didn't get to.

I managed only to see the thumbnails seems like some great photos there, having difficult playing the slide show (I'm on a PC) perhaps need to tweak a few settings...

Fantastic photos Robbie. You have a great eye for composition. I especially loved the photos of the tea pluckers and the folks on the tea trails, the child in the tuk-tuk and the boys on the train. Wonderful! I felt like I was on the trip with you. Thanks so much for posting these -- and for your report.

Thanks Robbie. I especially appreciate the shots of the hotels.

My favorite shot is 'Morning Plucking, Castlereigh'

Thanks for all your positive comments, they feel so satisfying. I use 8 year old camera equipment by Minolta. I have their 35 mm film camera which I load with Velvia slide film for scenery and portrait negative film (Portra) for people shots. Five or six years ago I bought the Minolta digital so my two lenses (24-80 and 70 to 300) are interchangeable between the two types of cameras. Most of the tea picker photos were shot with Portra film which I have scanned in to my Aperture library. I find the density and vibrancy is so much better when I use film to print enlargements.

>>>I load with Velvia slide film for scenery<<<

Many thanks 'robbie', for the beautiful pics and yes, your choice of slide film. (Brings back fine memories of scenic and joyous Asian mountaineering days. That Velvia and a certain well-insulated Contax T2 - and batteries - never let me down.)

(And 'btw', next trip, don't lose faith attempting to score two F award tiickets with yes, those sensational Singapore Girls. To date, we are 'batting' 100%. ... (Yes, perhaps a bit of that SIA connection at play.)

Early holiday greetings and, as always, sweet and smooth (SQ) rides to you,

macintosh (robert)

... gentle hostess, in your sarong, you care for me, as only you know how ...
