2 Gorilla Treks or 1 Gorilla Trek and 1 Golden Monkey Trek?

2 Gorilla Treks or 1 Gorilla Trek and 1 Golden Monkey Trek?
I'll be going on my honeymoon in early June and will have 2 full days in Kigali. I'm debating between 2 gorilla treks or 1 gorilla trek and 1 golden monkey trek. The latter would definitely save some money but that's not a huge consideration as it's our honeymoon. Any thoughts?

As cool as Golden Monkeys are, I would still vote for 2 gorilla treks. We did four and still wanted more! And I can say that of the four, the last one was easily the best one, especially for photography.

I agree with the others on the 2 gorilla visits.
If after one gorilla trip, you really wanted to see the golden monkeys instead of gorillas, you could likely make that swap in permits. You would probably not get the difference in cost refunded, though. On the other hand if after one gorilla visit, you really wanted a second gorilla visit but had a golden monkey permit, you'd probably be out of luck.
It was no problem for me when I swapped a gorilla permit for a golden monkey permit. That was after several good gorilla visits back when gorilla permits were not $500.

The gorilla-trekking areas in Uganda and Rwanda, although they appear close on a map, are many hours' driving time away from one another. If you are only doing two, do them in the same place -- one or the other. No need to add a whole day of just driving time if you are just doing two treks.

The golden monkey trek was nice, but it can't compare to the gorilla trek. If finances aren't an issue, hands down you should do two gorilla treks.

I did five gorilla treks, 3 in Rwanda and 2 in Uganda and also two Chimp treks. I can't comment on the Golden Monkey, but all 7 of those trekkings were absolutely totally different from one another. I would also do 2 gorilla treks for the reasons stated above. Getting good pictures are difficult due to the light situation, so the more time in different areas, the better.
