Can somebody help me figure out the Chao Phraya Express Boat schedule? Want to go to Koh Kred

I’m trying to figure out the best way to get to Koh Kred. I don’t want to do the Sunday all day “tourist” boat. Can’t anyway, because we’ll be with Tong.

I’d like to go on a Tuesday, probably in the morning.

From what I can tell from the schedule, only the boats with the yellow/green flags go all the way to Pakkred. These operate Monday-Friday, but do they only go one way (south) in the AM (6:15-8:05) and the other in the PM (16:05-18:05)?

For some reason, I am having a hard time figuring out how to read these schedules.
Can someone shed some light?

Here is the schedule:

Also, if my only option is to take the boat to Nonthburi, how do I get to Koh Kred from there?

Thanks!

I see your problem. Boats only go all the way to Pakkret in the evening. It's a commuter line.

What you have to do to get there by boat on a regular day is take the express boat to Nonthaburi pier, and from there you can get a connecting boat for about 100 Baht.

Check out the market around Nonthaburi pier on your way.

While the boat trip is interesting, it does take time. It won't be that hard to get a taxi in Pakkret if you decide to go back to Bangkok the fast way.

Thanks Michael-

So in terms of reading the schedule in general, is it only the Orange flagged boat that runs both directions in the middle of the day?

How do we go about finding the connecting boat at Nonthaburi?

All boats go to Nonthaburi all the time. Don't worry about flags. I've never paid any attention to them.

At the pier in Nonthaburi there were signs (in English even, I think) for the onward boat to Ko Kred, which is how I know about it. It shouldn't be too hard for a lost looking farang to get some attention. ;-)

You'll be with Tong? She drove up there with us and parked in a temple (paid a little) and we rode a ferry across the river.

Kim-
Our day with Tong will be outside of Bangkok. The trip to Koh Kred is something I was thinking of doing on a different day, on our own.

I see. It is better to go to Koh Kred on a Saturday or Sunday...all of the market stalls are not open on weekdays, but are on the weekend. Even on Saturday many stalls were not yet open at 10...just starts opening up then actually. You can rent bikes and pedal around the island, though, and when you get back have some food from the carts set up beside the big temple by the river.

Kim-
We may not be able to fit it in on a Sat or Sun. If not, do you think it's not worth it to go M-F?
