Helsinki and Estonia All in a Day?
Hi All,
Do people think it's possible to have a reasonable visit of Tallinn's Old Town on a day trip from Helsinki? And does anyone know how long the ferry ride is over?
Thanks for all help!

The Old Town in Tallin is quite walkable if you don't mind some steps.
Actually, I thought it was much more interesting than Helsinki.
Could you do it in a day...possibly..but make it a long one and beware of fake amber!

Yes, the boats take 1 1/2 hours or less to go across. You will find hotels more affordable in Tallinn along with the alcohol and nitelife. I flew from Tallinn to Berlin very cheaply. Try to have lunch in the Old Town--it will give you a chance to rest your feet.

Large numbers of Finns make day trips to Tallinn every day. There are half a dozen operators with big ships or fast ferries. The old town in Tallinn is an easy walk from the ferry terminals.

Depends on what you think is reasonable. I spent two nights in Tallinn and definitely need to go back.
There are different means of transport from Helsinki -- ships, cats, and hydrofoils run by different companies, and seasonal. Figure on two hours plus or minus a half hour.
