Honeymoon accommodations on PEI

We're planning our honeymoon to Eastern Canada (probably 3 weeks in Quebec and PEI), and we're looking for advice on where to stay on PEI. Dalvay by the Sea and the Inn at Bay Fortune both look nice. Any recommendations? Many thanks.

Hi and congratulations. What month are you on the Island? I ask because it might influence your choice. Both Dalvay and the Inn at Bay Fortune are excellent choices. Dalvay is larger and closer to Charlottetown and is located within the North Shore National Park, i.e. walking distance to beautiful beaches.
The Inn at BF is in a more remote corner of the Island but that might appeal to honeymooners. It has superior food to Dalvay in my opinion.

We have three weeks total, so depending on whether we start in Quebec or in PEI, it will either be mid to late June or the first week in July. Thanks!

Hi, there's an old saying on the Island 'there are two seasons here, July and winter' that's a bit harsh but July is really the most dependable month for good beach weather (warm ocean).

I believe you'd love either location it really comes down to what you plan on doing. Sightseeing, golf, beach or a tour of Charlottetown? If so Dalvay may be preferable. If you just want to chill and not travel around very much than the Inn at Bay Fortune might be better for you.

I have stayed at both and my preference would be Dalvay. We had cottage five this past July and we loved it. Large and comfortable and very private. All our meals were very good to excellent. When I stayed at Inn at Bay Fortune we had two very ordinary dinners with dreadful service. The rooms were quite nicely furnished and the grounds are charming. I did love the property just not the restaurant.

Best wishes on your marriage.

Do you think there will be too many tourists around in July? I thought perhaps we should go to PEI first to avoid the crowds, but I defer to the experience of others. Would you say the Dalvay area gets a lot more tourism than the Inn at Bay Fortune? Would it be reasonable to try to stay at both? We will probably spend a week on PEI. Many thanks for the helpful advice.

I was there in July of this year and frequently had the beach to myself. PEI is very pastoral and beautiful. Yes, there are more tourists around Dalvay than Inn at Bay Fortune. I think you could certainly do both. A few years ago my DH and I stayed at Kindred Spirits (which I liked very much) for two days and Inn at Bay Fortune for two days. PEI is lovely.
