Jet Airways Newark-Mumbai nonstop

[Quote]BETTER than Singapore, better than Cathay and at least as good as Emirates.” That was how Naresh Goyal stated his goal that the Indian carrier Jet Airways be rated among the top premier-class service in the world in a few years.[Unquote]

Although its nice to see some competition on international routes to India, you should note that your thread is mis-titled. The flight from Newark to Mumbai will have a stop in Brussels.

EWR-BOM will have non-stop service by Continental, starting 4x weekly on Oct 1, increasing to daily Nov 1.

Air India just started non-stop service Mumbai-JFK.

Continental's service can't match Jet Airways by any stretch....

I like continental for short flights, but I could not stand being on their narrow, single aisle planes for a flight to India!

A 777-200 is a narrow, single-aisle plane?

EWR-DEL has always been a 777-200. That's the only plane in CO's fleet that can make that flight non-stop.

I think Air India with their new 777-LR planes have started Mumbai-JFK non stop now, Jet Airways as others have said is via BRU at the moment, I think that latest reviews waas for their 777-300's on their London route.
Good to see these airlines expanding, the number of routes/airlines India to SE Asia is booming.
Together with Emirates and the Etihad flights from New York to the Gulf plus Qatar Airways from IAD and JFK/EWR( not sure which one ) through Doha the choices from the USA to India and SE Asia is so much better than before.

This us surely going to effect the revenue of those Europrean carriers than have had such high % of transfer traffic Nort America to Gulf/ India/SEA in the past.
I thik United has a Kuwait non stop and Delta a non stop to Dubai. Emirates non stop Houston to Dubai I think comes on later in the year plus planned is Toronto-Dubai on Emirates.

rkkwan, I just flew CO nonstop Newark-Beijing and back. The return flight was a new 777 - pretty nice from a back-of-the-plane economy perspective. On the other hand, the flight over was the worst flight I've ever taken! I'm pretty sure it was also a 777, but old, cramped and waay overbooked (one of our group couldn't even fly with us for lack of room and was escorted off the plane!!). I guess to me it's the typical hit-or-miss you get with CO...

Jet's plan is to make BRU a little hub for themselves, like NW at NRT. It will have flights from various cities in India to BRU, and then from BRU to various cities in the US.

ggreen - All of CO's 777 have the same seat configurations. Most of the seats have pretty limited legroom, so I can totally understand how you may feel cramped. I fly on this aircraft a lot, and of the 235 coach seats on that plane, I only like a handful. Right now, if I can, I always take 44A or 44L.

Jet took advantage of the connectivity thru Brussles as, direct connectivity to the city from India was sporadic until this! Their domestic service is just about superb and i expect nothing less on the new route!!!

Although, Air India has new planes for the route.....i don't know if their pathetic on time record is turned around for the better! only time will tell.....

I have only used Jet Airways internally in India. It's operation is damn near perfect. Good food, great cabin service and spotlessly clean planes. I live in Australia, and I thought Jet was far better than Qantas. My wife, a former cabin crew person, agreed. Jet was outstanding.
