Hotel conversion scams
Be sure to get your hotel quotes in the local currencies of the countries you're going to as they love to convert USD or Euros at a bad rate to pick up some extra money. It's a common thing all over Europe and most all do it.
An example is that you get a quote from a hotel in Prague and they give it to you in Euros but then when you pay by cash or cc, it's in their local currency-not Euros that they quoted you. They usually pick up 5-10% doing this and most people never notice it.
I learned this and always get my quotes in the local currency they use.

The thing donw is describing does not sound like dynamic currency conversion. It sounds like the hotel is charging in the local currency, not in dollars, as it would be with dynamic currency conversion.
It is irrelevant whether you are paying cash or using a credit card. They are just giving quotes in dollars or euros which are not accurate because they charge more in the local currency and hope you won't do the math yourself to see how they lied to you.

Interesting.
In DCC, the merchant ocnverts from local currency to $, could you insist that the merchant in this case charge you in Euro?
In genral, do merchants have capability to bill in multiple currencies?
