Pedregal Area, Cabo San Lucas -- Help & Input!

Trying to find a good 50th birthday destination for my husband and got a few friends interested in Cabo San Lucas. Also loved the thought of everyone (4 couples) sharing a villa. First, my husband is worried that the Pedregal area is too far from town or beaches and that we would need to rent vehicles (prefer not to). Also that we might be bored with a villa. Please let me know your experiences and most convenient part of Pedregal to consider. Found the site www.cabovillas.com and they show lovely properties but are willing to look at other options like resort hotels/condos that could accomodate 8 people

Pedregal area is the hill right into town but you would need to rent a car.
So many fab resorts in Cabo that this would be the best thing for everyone..and Cabo has some really great resorts and I think you would all be bored with a villa.
Love Palmilla..

Hi I think a Villa in Pedregal would be great. How bored are you going to be 5 min from downtown? Your right there close to the marnia , Good restaurants, Medano Beach, Cabo Wabo Squid Row. and if you do feel like lying around your swimming to have Quiet time you can. Also you can cut down some of you food costs because cabos prices do run along the same as home. But there are some great resorts close to town so you can go in town or hang at resort. Palmilla is lovley but its out by San Jose so you will be cabbing into either town.

A Villa would be great but from experience, unless you really know these 4 couples really well and don't mind sharing space and all that goes with that, I would say your safe bet is a resort..
Palmilla is lovely and yes it is a cab ride but not to bad..
There are tons of great resorts that would work for everyone.
Have a great time!

This is a group that has traveled together before and gets along very well. We don't want a resort that would require cabbing....and the villa I am looking at is lovely at $600 a night for all of us. Since the villa may be my "treat"....I would really like help on analyzing the location which is on the Sea of Cortez side of Pedregal. All fit and healthy so walking is not an issue....just not too long of a walk.

Pedregal is the exclusive area of Cabo and it is a mountain with homes/villas built into the hillside and depending where its located it will be a hike.
$600 a night is an incredible deal for 4 couples which I presume is a 4Bdr..
Sea of Cortez side is facing the town.
I have been to the Villa Bouganvilla years ago.
That's great that all of you get along really well but you are going to need a car to get to and from your villa.
Hotels that would work for you are the Pueblo Bonita and Marina Fiesta.

Thanks for all your help, but everyone seems to want me to stay at a hotel. Years ago we stayed at the Melia and walked to town each night, plus our Pedregal property is right by the front entrance. The only other condo/resort property I was considering was La Estancia but they didn't responde to my e-mail. So we will take our chances to do a "Big Chill" weekend at a villa. Did Pueblo Bonita in Mazatlan last spring and my husband was bored out of his mind with the resort lifestyle...reserving chairs at the pool, trying to get a waiter for drinks, splashing kids, etc. so I think a new experience is worth trying.

Going from a Ice Hotel in Sweden to Cabo is quite a contrast and if we all knew that the property was right at the front entrance to Pedregal, that changes everything since you were admanant about not renting a car..Now I understand why the villa rental is $600 a night..it is noisy by the entrance but its only for the weekend.

Hi again,
I think that for a weekend you'll be fine. Its close to everything and everyone should have a blast. I live in cabo by Pedregal and if your at the entrance walking around won't be bad. It's never really super noisy at night there. Besides with good friends how could you go wrong, and if you don't like it then you know you won't do it again. So enjoy!!!!

Thanks for your thoughts....and for the person who mentioned the Ice Hotel, I am taking him to the one in Quebec and doing dogsledding, snowmobiling. That's a surprise, the Cabo is a planned trip that will benefit me and a group of friends -- you only turn 50 once. Also, part of picking Cabo was to do Wide Open Baja which is a race track based on the Baja 100 race. So I didn't forgot finding an adventure for him as mentioned in my earlier postings. Just trying to find lots of new experiences...he enjoys memories more than material gifts.

There are some other really beautiful villas located in Pedregal and Palmilla, both perhaps the best spots in Los Cabos. I found http://www.vacationdiggs.com/vacatio..._San_Lucas.htm to have a great selection of properties in both area.
