Jambo everyone. Yes still using that word and we have been home for two weeks. Finally got some pictures uploaded to Kodak Easy Share. Had 3150 and got it down to 677. So be forwarned. If you want to look at them I will post the Link.

But here are a few things you must know ahead of time.

1. I dropped my original camera in Nairobi on the 6th day so had to find a quick replacement. So that is my excuse for pictures not turning out and I am sticking to it
2. I have a variety of shots, not just animals. I believe that some people want to see the people, the scenery, the camps, the food and the toilets. (you guys had me so afraid that I wouldn't be able to find a toilet the whole time I was there
3. I know you might think 677 is alot but believe me I could have shot 7000 if I wasn't limited by a certain husband (he is in some of the pictures and I bet you will think he is really mean for doing this )

4. I got some of a kill so might be a bit gruesome.
5. I apologize up front if I didn't get the names correct on all animals. After a while, all Antelope look the same.
6. Birds are called Birds

So hope you enjoy. Not professional but a few turned out pretty nice.

Maybe you could have the Cliff's Notes version of your photo album for Tom and others?

I'm the type to go through all of them, though. Like Patty, I enjoy getting a sense of the entire trip. For example, I can see you indulged in quite a bit of Maasai bracelets, necklaces, etc.

You're a hoot. The best way is to tell a story and you sure did that. The migration, herd and crossing pics are outstanding. And, not too shabby with that wildie downing/kill. I left lots of comments for you... even names a few of the "birds"

Thanks for sharing these -- looks like you had a lot of fun! I'm another one of those who enjoys looking through a bunch of photos, especially when someone shows so many different aspects of their trip. How was the camel ride at Samburu Intrepids? Was your village visit a part of the camel ride? Also, what kind of camera did you end up using as a replacement? You still got some great shots. Looking forward to your trip report...

Purple, thanks for your beautiful pictures. I too enjoy pictures of everything. Nice to see a picture of Mount Kenya as a change, I loved the gerenuks and reticulated giraffes, there are 2 very good topi pictures and that's what's most important, there are some funny lions, the baby eles are adorable as always, the crossings are impressive, the photo of drowned wildebeests is very sad, interesting Maasai village photos, nice to see kudu in Tarangire, very romantic Kilikiss, I think I'll have another look.

Maybe we should all drop our cameras on day 6--these were good. I sampled them randomly but would enjoy a "best of" album. You could also divide them up by camp or country.

Thanks to all that have enjoyed the photos. As to paring them down to 67 Get real It took me 2 weeks to get down to 677. I should make Tom come watch the 9 hours of video The camera I used for Tanzania was the Panasonic FZ20. Before that 25 years of a Manual Nikon FE. Still not use to a digital. Once that broke I bought a Canon Power shot S2 IS. Same features but all new dials to get use to. And as I said I was a film girl my whole life. Yes I bought out half of the country. Ask G if you don't believe me. We were so lucky to see a migration on our first trip. Heard it sometimes takes 3 times before you see one. And the kill was amazing too. Must say I did cry thru the whole thing but being the photographer that I am I took pictures. The Camel ride was done thru Imtrepids in Samburu. And they took us across the river to the Village they live in. We did not get off the camel Just saw it in a distance. No way was I getting off and back on. My thighs hurt for two days. I guess seeing Kudu in Tarangire was a special thing. And I am the one that saw it first. I just mentioned "Oh there is an animal" and our guide Clamian couldn't wait to go back and tell the other guides. Not sure if we ever saw the Greater Kudu. But I guess Lesser is better than none.

The trip was more than I ever expected. Wanting to go since I was 10, saving for 3 years and planning for 1 1/2 years. Far exceeded my expectations. Trying to get the trip report typed up. I kept a journal every night so just have to organize it and type it up I will try and keep it short for Tom Just kidding Tom

I am now devoting a whole wall in our sunroom to Africa. Pictures etc. to remind me of the BEST trip we ever went on

I'm curious as to which game park you preferred. Did you prefer Amboseli or Samburu?

Also, did you prefer Tortilis Camp or Governor's camp?

And what was your highlight of the entire safari?!

I loved all your pix. I never get tired of looking at the photos no matter how many there are. The one with the caption
"touchdown" had me laughing out loud!
For those Fodorites that didn't want to wade thru all the pix this one is worth finding! Of course I have a really warped sense of humor!

I really liked your pictures because it gives you a sense of the whole trip, not just the animals.

My favorite is the hippo upside down in the water with his pink belly facing up.
