Can you bring your own alcohol on a cruise ship?
I've been told that you might be able to sneak a little alcohol in your suitcase, but large amounts will be stopped--especially at shore excursions.
Any comments?

We always bring our wine etc with us beck to the ship after shore excursions. The wine is for the cabin, and we order drinks on board for other times. Bring a good corkscrew. It does save alot of dough.

Yes! You can bring any amount of alcohol on board at anytimes as long as you not waving it over your head unwrapped. You can also drink your own alcohol at the restaurant as long as it is in plastic seltser or cola (for dark liquids). However it is not recommended to tell your waiter to bring more glasses because you have your own drinks. Trust me it happens. They will frown upon it.
Bring few cases of water and replace water on a middle with liquor. Do not act like you smuggling something aboard and you should do fine. Or not...whatever.

kb......It's not the kill...it's the chase....A lot like securing an upgraded room in Las Vegas......Gives them something to keep their cocktail chatter popping for the rest of the year: "Look what I did! This makes me a Travel Expert!!"....

Would you really walk into the dining room with your own alcoholic drink? I would die of embarassment - that is incredibly cheap and tacky in my opinion. I can understand wanting to have your own "brand" in your cabin, but to actually bring booze into the dining room???? Tell me it ain't so! Tell me you're talking about fine wines!!!

What's so sad about bringing your own bottle or sneaking your own bottle on board a cruise ship to consume in your stateroom.
This new policy really pi$$e$ me off. On Celebrity, I used to bring my own wine (I make my own), some for consumption in my stateroom, and some I bring to the dining room. I don't mind paying the $15 for corkage because I know what I got. The cruise ship is actually making money on me. I don't think they are making that much on a bottle of their "cheap" wines.
I spend a lot of money on the cruise ship from a bloody mary in the morning, a $9 martini before dinner, and a $8 cognac after dinner, plus whatever foo-foo umbrella drinks my wife has.
I don't feel guilty at all having my own stuff in my stateroom, whether I walk on board with it or have to sneak/smuggle it on board.
P.S. I like your sister's co-worker's husband.

Which cruise line are you on? Different lines have different policies. We've bought wine on shore (something unique to that particular country) and blatantly carried on board with no problem whatsoever nor did we pay a corkage fee in the diningroom....depends on the cruise line.

I am not ashamed of bringing my own vodka in my own plastic bottle to the dinner table...what I am ashamed of is seeing ladies and gentlemens dressed to impress in night gowns and taxidos sparkling their azzez off with dimonds waiting in line to get to a free restaurant instead of going to a specialty restaurants where they do not have to wait in line...
I was dressed as i wished and carryed my own plastic bottle filled with whatever I wanted to fill it with (spring water in my hand - big deal!) and I had my freestyle dinner in a feestyle manner...next to diamond claded ladies and taxidoed gentlemen.
It was what i was getting kick out of.

AMEN Budman you are 100% correct. And Rick always gets an afternoon froo-froo and generally ends up buying a drink or two for musicians, friends, etc. Isn't a good cruise unless we leave with a 3 page bill, lol.

joan...it is was not formal night...those were people in line every night for a FREE food.
My understanding you get out of limo and get door opened for you when you dress like that - not waiting in line to a free restaurant.
My bill was 2 pages...is is not enough? LOL

Ziana, Please explain why you think the food is "free". Joan is correct. You paid for it in your cost of the cruise. Yes, there are other dining options that have a surcharge and they are optional.
I would rather dine with people that are dressed up rather than the ones that come to the dining room in baseball caps and do not have the courtesy to remove them at the dinner table.
