Question about Geox Shoes

I just bought a pair of Geox shoes at Nordstrom. Ordinarily I'm a Euro size 38, but I was betwixt and between the 38 and the 37-1/2; one was just a wee bit large-ish, the other a wee bit smallish (or was it my imagination because I'm used to being a 38)? Anyhow, I went with the 38 and am now walking around the house in them and wondering if I made the wrong choice -- they feel a tad too big!

Now, before anyone scolds me, I know that I and I alone can decide which size fits me. My question to those who have bought Geox shoes is: do you find they stretch over time? Do you generally find they run true to size? I thought some opinions from experienced wearers might guide me in my choice to keep these or exchange them for the smaller ones.

Thanks so much!

If it's any consolation, I have the same problem with Geox!

One size is a bit too big, and the next size too small. Throw in that I've also tried two Geox styles and had to get different sizes for different styles. No they don't stretch. And actually seem to wear out kind of quickly.

Summary, I love the look and idea of Geox but haven't had the greatest luck when put to practice.

I bought a pair last year at the Shoe Pavilion here for a Paris trip. It felt as though they have stretched a wee bit only.

Yes, they stretch. Mine are slides and I have stepped out of them lol and they were the exact size I needed. But you are still better off, IMO, going with the larger size rather than small and hoping it will stretch enough..just get a thin insert/shoe cushion to take up the extra room..

I would go with the slightly big and opt for heavier sox if possible.I have read that the difference from 1 size to next is something like a 1/4 inch..... Doesn't seem like it would be a big deal...but must be comfy!

I think the thin insert cushion is a better idea than trying to take up the room with socks (thought maybe you need both).

One style of my Geox has kind of a sliding feel at the heel even though it fits good and is very comfortable.

My friend LOVES them so I bought a pair. They just don't fit well on my foot. No arch at all. And the same it's too big, too small thing with the sizes. Not my favorite shoe for comfort. But they are cute...

I am in the process of buying a pair of Geox. I have never heard bad about them. I think they feel phenomenal and my step mom even slipped on on her foot, just for feel, and first comment was about the amazing arch support.

I wanted the Geox Connections, which are last years style. I ordered them online from walkingonacloud.com

I ordered the 39 (I don't know why, I wear between a 8 and 8.5). The 39 is so comfy but big, foot definitely slips. So, I ordered a 38 which I'm waiting for. I'll return the one that doesn't fit. In the meantime, I bought a pair of Munro slip ons just in case both sizes fit odd. The Munro's are quite comfy, very nice looking, not so casual but can be a daily walking shoe. At Nordstrom's they are one of their best sellers. At $135, this is a bit out of my budget, but I'm keeping them until I get the new Geoxs

Funny Munro don't fit me either. And I heard that from Nordstrom, that it was their best selling brand, so the must fit someone good... just not me.

This is very, very strange. I've worn my Geox shoes for over a year now. They seem to have stretched a bit. I looked at the label and it says: UK 5 - EUR 38 US 6. This is weird as I'm size 6.5 in US size and 37 in European sizes. By the way, I love these shoes. They've lasted longer than any other shoe I've worn before.

Thanks so much for all of this wonderful input. I love this forum and the kind, thoughtful people who participate.

So, I am thinking I'll return the Geox shoes and continue my quest (we leave on April 6, so I will need a couple of weeks to break the shoes in). I may have to order online -- Nordstrom.com has a great selection and free shipping. My new question (since I won't be able to try the shoes on): of other brands (Ecco, Born, Joseph Seibel), does anyone have experience in how the sizes run? I am a true size 7 in American-sized shoes, so would ordinarily order a 38 -- but my Geox experience has left me a tad hesitant.

Any thoughts/recommendations/warnings are gratefully accepted. Thanks again!

Joseph Seibel has a very square toe box, my 2nd toe always hits the end and next size up is too big.

My last few pair of comfort shoes are just Clarke's of all things. Oh and Merrells run true to size in my experience. I've bought the same pair of their slip-on moc/loafers several times.

zappos.com has free shipping and returns. if you found shoes there instead of nordies, you could order several and return the ones that didn't work.

I can't believe what a fuss I am making on walking shoes. Who would think it would be so hard to find a CASUAL pair of shoes that work with slacks or jeans. Shoes that I would wear at home. And shoes that are NOT tennis shoes?

Currently I'm awaiting my second pair of GEOX Connections (ordered wrong size online and waiting to see if the smaller one feels as dreamy as I think it will).

Because I wasn't sure whether the Geox would fit right, I've been searching Nordstroms for a back up. Today I purchased Ecco Shade Slip Ons. This is the second time I was at Nordstroms and the sales guy brought out a "last year" shoe that I loved! I'm so out of style Luckily, this time, he had the size and color I wanted. Here is a link to the Ecco. It is VERY comfy! http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/2553492/c/1195.html

I'm the OP, so here's my update (so far): I returned the Geox and bought a pair of Josef Seibel (Heidi style) in black. Took a short walk (about a mile) the first day and a longer one (about 3 miles) the next. I may need slightly thicker socks with them, but so far they're great, and they are pretty attractive, too (in a walking-shoe kind of way).

I'm planning on taking a second pair (possibly shoes I already own!) of really comfortable ones, and a somewhat dressier (but still comfy) pair for a bit of a nicer look for evenings.

Seibels fit me well, and I always take them to Europe with me as I can comfortably wear them day after day. I've walked several hundred miles in my various pairs. I haven't owned a pair of typical white running/walking shoes in years.

Anyone have any feedback on Crocs?

I've heard good things about them, but they just look SO ugly...

I thought of this post this morning as I was walking 12 city blocks in a pair of Geox.

They are cute and cushy, feeling comfortable to slip on. But they just aren't that comfortable to walk in.

My thinking was actually... glad I'm not in Paris and this is my only pair of shoes! Better post this on Fodor's.

;-)

I have a pair of Geox. They are ok. No problems. Could it be you have problems with your feet?
